The mechanical upgrades that were completed at this SoCal Gas facility consisted of improvements to 3 Central Plant buildings. These upgrades to the various mechanical units ranged from replacement of many of the rooftop air handler units (AHU's), chiller units (Centrifugal Water Chillers to Direct Fired Absorption Chillers), cooling towers, DDC controls, and all associated piping and duct work that accompanied these projects. I also had the pleasure of replacing the facilities battery backup system for a redundant backup system.
The greatest challenge was that the facility was in full operation while these improvements were all taking place.
Project Schedule (range): 3/23/2009 - 2/18/2011
Project Cost (multiple projects): $6,939,265.00
A look into the projects that I have been fortunate enough to be a part of. The most gratifying and rewarding part of the project is the final result coupled with complete customer satisfaction.

Vista Community Clinic
Construction of the two-story, 11,947 SF medical clinic included 20 exam rooms, three nurse stations, medical records room, full pharmacy, two reception areas (1st & 2nd floor), several office and support areas and a break area with an exterior terrace. The buildings exterior consists of a stucco finish with a decorative stone veneer and cementitious tile roof. An electrical traction elevator service both floors.
The Vista Community Clinic was constructed to LEED Silver & OSHPD specifications.
On this project we faced numerous challenges causing some delays. The major delays were not being able to get Permitted drawings from the City until 8/19/08 and per the original schedule we were to have these by 6/12/08. The other major delay we encountered was Rain. We had 2 weeks of Rain delays on this project during the framing and offsite improvement stages. Fortunately we were able to make days up with weekend work, long hours and hit the Clinics anticipated Grand Opening in July. The official Grand Opening to the public was on August 27th and was a complete success!
Project Schedule: 6/9/2008 - 7/8/2009
Final Construction Cost: $3,770,248.00
