UDA was a Design Build project for a Public Charter School located in the East Village of downtown San Diego. This project consists of an existing 19,680 SF, 97 year old building remodel along with another 17,420 SF new building connected directly to the North side of the existing building. Total building space is 37,100 SF. Additionally there is a 4,600 SF parking area to the north and 1,750 SF below grade outdoor recreation area to the West, as well as a 8,270 SF roof top recreation playground.
The design intent of this project is to keep the historical integrity of the old building while throwing a modern contemporary spin on it with the new building.
